Support Occupy Harvard!

    1. Petition by

      Occupy Harvard

      Cambridge, MA

Occupy Harvard is a movement that challenges the vast political and economic inequalities in the United States and around the world. At Harvard, we have a duty to examine our own role in contributing to these disparities and should seek out ways to create a more just world. Therefore, we support Occupy Harvard in the pursuit of this goal.

Harvard is a place where these concerns can easily be ignored, and thus for both solidarity and the importance of the movement as a whole it is important to continue Occupy Harvard.

This is not the world in which I want to live or that I wish to pass on to my son. As an educator and as a student, I recognize the role an university plays in reproducing knowledge and social structures. Harvard can be a place that promotes the wellbeing of all.

Social inequality is necessary, but there are certain limits to it. I think it has gone too far. There are no reasons against taxing the rich as they were taxed in the 1980s.

The campus should not be closed and the University should support its protesting students instead of making them invisible.
