Stop the Obstruction

America needs to tax the super rich to survive. Before 1980 the super rich were taxed 70% and more. This was considered reasonable. Trickle Down did not work. Grover Norquist is stopping raising taxes on the super rich and this is
causing the American economy to be top heavy and fail and blocking Government from even working. It's not envy, it is math that the super rich need to be taxed more to make a more balanced economy.

My first thought was how can an entire party sign to a lobbyist over their oath to the American people!
A lawyer in LA explained that it was in fact technically treason. (See his article) and

Well, of course they do, silly. First, one cannot take the sworn “obligation” of the Oath of Office “freely,” when simultaneously bound to an imaginary “pledge” which does not carry with it any force or sanction of law. If the TPP even potentially conflicts with the “free” undertaking of the Oath, then it may be said that the oath was taken for “purpose of evasion,” and thus treasonous.

So what then, of Grover Norquist’s “Taxpayer Protection Pledge,” which reads as follows: I, [a relinquisher of free-will], pledge to the taxpayers of the ___ district of the State of [Hysteria], and to the American people that I will: ONE, oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses; and TWO, oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.
Simply put, does a sitting Representative violate his/her Oath of Office by signing Mr Norquitst’s TPP?

At the start of each new Congress, the entire House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate takes the Oath of Office. This solemn act dates back to the First Congress in 1789. The current oath, however, is the product of the Civil-War era members of Congress intent on ensnaring traitors. The oath is not voluntary. It is universal. It binds every representative, regardless of party affiliation or political philosophy. Every punitive procedure such as impeachment, censure, contempt and the like, relates to some violation of this Oath of Office:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

Our Congress is supposed to work for all of the people not just one rich man that tells them what to do.

The middle class MUST be given priority. The middle class supports the economy. The wealthy and super wealthy DO NOT promote jobs. Just the opposite - under Pres. Obama the wealthy have done very well and they are NOT promoting jobs, they are sitting on their money. The tax rate increase will not bring them to the poor house.

No one person should have this much control over the fate of our citizens and our country. His tax pledge is detrimental to our economy and puts pressure on our social programs that we absolutely need in favor of tax breaks for wealthy people.
