Stop the destruction of Bald Eagle Habitat on Irondequoit Bay

      Rochester, NY

Even though Bald Eagles are no longer on the national endangered species list, they are rare in the greater Rochester area. They are our national symbol and to see them in their wild habitat is a thrill. Building another crowded and noisy apartment complex doesn't warrant the destruction of the eagle habitat on Irondequoit Bay. Please speak up! Tell Penfield to deny the permit for Empire Blvd. development!  CARE!

Here is the meeting notice from the town of Penfield:

Property: 1420 and 1440 Empire Blvd., in the LaSalle’s Landing Development (LLD) zoning district

The presence of American Eagles speaks to the values we, the people of Penfield and Rochester, NY hold. Adding yet another apartment complex does nothing for our reputation as an outstanding community in which people are proud to call home. I hope my town board recognizes the value of cherishing wildlife above tax income.

Penfield could find inspiration in The Braddock Bay Raptor Research center. People come from all over the state as tourists and nature lovers to Braddock Bay. They could spend their time and money in Penfield too watching the bald eagles.

There is no population growth in Monroe County and hence more new development is a real waste of resources. Our tax dollars have to pay for the infrastructure for this unnecessary development.

This area of Irondequoit Bay has wonderful wildlife habitat adjacent to Abraham Lincoln Park that should be preserved. We are so lucky to have nesting bald eagles.

One of the best things that has been happening is the preservation of the natural habitat of Irondequoit Creek in the midst of the industrial developments there of the past. Empire Blvd is already a "race track". Destroying more natural habitat to add to the congestion of that "race track"(350 units = ~600 cars egressing onto Empire Blvd)...the town board and planners have got to turn this down for sound ecological, environmental and town density reasons.
