As an LGBT youth, I believe education about the LGBT community should be available to all students. With the internet being the number one resource in our schools, it is important to include educational websites and not block them. The use of LGBT resources allows not only LGBT students to access information pertaining to themselves, but those questioning their sexual identities, as well as allow for statistics and correct information for school projects. If Governor Mifflin Senior High School believes this information is too sensitive for the student body to see and/or use, they have a large situation of hypocrisy to deal with.

Blocking LGBT sites perpetuate ignorance, prejudice, contempt, and violence. Enough already.

The Internet is one of the most widely used tools to connect individuals and gain a different perspective. It's a shame that an educational institution feels the need to disconnect students from their right to learn, grow, and seek information.

Bad things happen when students are not able to get information or access resources that will help them deal with their feelings. Sweeping this under the rug by suggesting that the material is too sensitive only results in feelings of alienation. These feeling are what cause youth to feel as though they only have one way out. Help these kids "Learn to live" by allowing them access this sort of information.

Equal access to information democratizes society and provides the platform for an educated, participatory culture.

It is not up to the school district to determine what educational resources students want to access on the internet. I am disappointed in the school that is my alma mater.
