Governor Cuomo has decided to close Monterey Shock. This will greatly effect our upstate communities and the lives of inmates that would otherwise be warehoused in larger prisons. Inmates work with staff and are taught to live a healthy, disciplined, productive lifestyle through programs such as military drill, physical fitness, education, ASAT, network and working in the community. For over 25 years this program has had proven results and saved the state well over a billion dollars.

Andrew M Cuomo, Governor
Stop the closure of Monterey Shock

Sincerely,

My daughter had to go to a shock camp and it help turn her life around. It is a great alternative to prison. I think more criminals need shock camps as chance to learn discipline.

I spent 25 yrs with the NY State Police and during that time I saw the benefits of the Scock Camp system amongst those who successfully completed the program. To eliminate an institution that helps turn inmates onto the correct path in life is a bad thing.

Shock has straightened out many young men that would have been lost in incarceration. They do good work and save the taxpayers dollars.
