People are still without power and the lack of communications, as well as miscommunications, as well as lies from LIPA, have been horrid. There has already been one death in my hometown, Oceanside, because of a generator. The Long Island Power Authority has failed the people, and therefore has to go. (Also note that we pay the highest power rates in America!)

To:
Andrew Cuomo, Governor, New York State
Fire all LIPA leadership, hold an investigation, and reimburse victims.

People are still without power and the lack of communications, as well as miscommunications, as well as lies from LIPA, have been horrid.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

I'm tired of big companies charging exorbitant prices and using very little of it to provide adequate and basic necessities for their customers. Accountability must be held, and not by the customers. LIPA needs to make amends for their neglect and depraved indifference. If LIPA was an organization who cared enough to maintain and upgrade as necessary, we would never have gotten to this point. Proactive upgrades and maintenance should be an everyday, thought and occurrence, not a regret for the lack of when disaster strikes. I still consider ourselves lucky, even if we were cold, hungry and without power for 13 days. We stayed safe and we have our health. We have loved ones in devastated areas that are struggling, not to mention all the families who have nothing left. For us, this petition is to improve our quality of life for a basic necessity which, unfortunately, seems to be a luxury to suffer for. I hope the executives at LIPA have a moment of clarity where they can feel remorse, shameful or at the very least apologetic without passing the buck and their expenses back to the very people they've faileds

16 days after Sandy, my house still has no power and no one from LIPA has even come to inspect anything. Everyone was warned for a full week before the storm hit to begin preparing, obviously LIPA did not pay attention. Once things get back to normal, I would bet a million dollars that LIPA will raise rates yet again citing that reason is all of the overtime they had to pay for the storm. Totally BS and shouldn't be allowed. Also, National Grid is offering a $150 credit to everyone? Really? I have to replace a gas water heater and gas furnice. That will cost over $2500. The $150 they are offering doesn't even cover the taxes. Fire everyone, lower their ridiculous pay checks and start fresh.
