Legalize Gay Marriage

    1. Petition by

      Tom Freemont

      Hartford, CT

We should strive for Equality for all! We should take the first step, and Legalize Gay Marriage, in all US Territories. We should lead the way for other countries.

Everyone deserves the same rights, the rights of marriage, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or anything else.

We should be open to diversity, and that just because something is different, doesn't mean it's bad. We need to be leaders, show other countries the right thing to do.

Because I believe that the government and the religious right have no business deciding who can and can't marry.

If a country with a repressive past history like Argentina can recognize same sex marriage and legalize it in 2010, certainly the country that touts itself as the freest and most progressive government on the planet should be rushing to not be outdone. Why should gay people tolerate being second class citizens in the land of their birth? None.

Because Michael & I were able to get legally married in Iowa City on June 21, 2009.

I believe that any two people should be allowed to be married, no matter where they live. Love is love, and gender should have no part in it.
