Seth Blumenthal: Google has changed Maps to draw the lines of the Chicago L in their proper colors!

The Chicago L is one of the nation's largest metro systems. In Google Maps, the lines of the L should be drawn in their respective colors, as they are for New York,  San Francisco, Paris and London transit systems. This will make for easier identification on the map and a more authentic presentation of this transit system.

Google, Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043
In Google Maps, please give the Chicago L lines their proper colors.

To all of you who signed the petition, Google has implemented the change we requested! Take a look at Chicago under google maps (or follow the link below), and select "transit" to see the L rendered in shiny, correct colors. Also note on parts of the system where more than one line converge, the individual lines have been rendered side by side (for example, in the Loop).

Thanks again for your participation - you have helped support public transportation in Chicago.

We just hit 100 signatures - thanks a million for all your support so far. Given that this petition has been so popular, I'm going to leave it open for at least another week before I send it to Google. Hope all of you are forwarding it to anyone you know who cares about Chicago transit. -Seth

Because Chicago's L lines are named after actual colors, the cognitive dissonance caused by improperly colored lines on Google Maps is particularly acute. Corresponding each line's color with its name would significantly improve your service's usability.

Not only will it help the residents of the city who want to feel confident in their ability to get around the city, it will help visitors as well.

Until I saw this page I didn't know cities were getting Special Treatment. Out Subway/elevated train system seems confusing when compared to New York, even though we have less routes and well separated. With all our routes Gray, they get mixes up when being look at in the map. I would expect google to want to "Organize the world's information" as cleanly as possible!?
