Because it optimizes screen real-estate, and is really useful! Many users are very disappointed that you have removed this feature, even though it was experimental. Perhaps we are only the minority because the feature was never publicized.

If it's really not appropriate for the core application, then please extend your plugin architecture to accommodate this modification.

      Now that Chrome has a fantastic active content blocker ScriptNo, the only thing still keeping me from moving from the slow and memory hungry Firefox to much leaner and faster Chrome is the lack of vertical tabs, preferably hierarchical tabs like the TreeStyle Tabs FF extension does.

      Frankly, I probably abuse tabs (current tab count: 19 - and if anything this on the "low tide"!), but that's how I work.
