Stop the County from opening a 24/7 homeless shelter at 301 S St College Bl

    1. Petition by

      Joe Smith

This is a 29,000 square foot building that is located near an elementary school, park and houses. This homeless shelter will make Fullerton the dumping ground for homeless. Crime will increase and spread to the whole area. This deal is being done without much awareness from the public. A life long friend of County Supervisor Nelson stands to make nearly 100k from the deal. This is bad for North OC. This shelter will end of looking like skid row in downtown LA where crime and drug use is rampant. Fullerton is not LA.

A homeless shelter is needed in Orange County. I don't know which city would be best, but I DO know that it needs to be located an appropriate distance away from schools and public parks where children are located. Because there may very well be sex offenders who are not supposed to be close to be children (and other criminals) it needs to be located in a more appropriate location.

I disagree that a homeless shelter will absolutely foster crime or cause a "skid row." But I agree that sneaking it in and kicking back to Nelson's friend is wrong. This is something that should be voted on by the citizens of Fullerton, or at very least made public.

This looks exactly like a petition the parents started...

It is important to me because it is just down the street from my business and I believe we already have to many homeless people hanging around Fullerton. We need a training center with dormitories to get these people off the street permanently. I

I would not feel as secure for the safety of my family to have something like that so close to my home. it should not be in an area where a lot of homes are, it should be away from where people live and children play
