I have been in the industry for 18 yrs. fortunatly with no accidents , I also know those that have not been so fortunate . My hats off to the sacrifices that have been made by tower climbers to keep the world connected . Our contribution to society and THE WORLD goes unapreciated . It is time that we are recognized as a vital part of keeping the world connected !!!!!!!

We have one of the most dangerous jobs in America. Foreman are pressured to get the job done fast leading to the foreman pressuring the climbers to speed up causing them to cut corners and then become very very bad habits like skipping the 100% tie off rule to move around the tower quickly. The industry provides us with equipment if properly used will save your life if you fall. I just wish our industry and the chances we take to provide people with cell phone coverage would be more recognized and appreciated. For example a rigger for a crane company couldn't beleive i was doing this dangerouse job for the amount of money i make. Good cellular experience is hard to come by. If enough of us pull together hopefully we might be able to change the way we are paid and the way we are looked upon by the wireless carrier.

We have a family member who works in the tower industry. He is in danger everytime he climbs one of these very high towers and everyone should know of the dangers these workers face. People make cell calls and send text messages everyday, but they probably never stop to think about how they are able to make these calls. Lets keep these workers in our thoughts and prayers.

I work mostly in the tall tower broadcast industry so this may come off as crass, but why is it that all the deaths in the tower industry involve a fall from 100 or so feet? Working at 2,000' we rarely have to deal with OSHA and rarely have people die. Why do so many people die in the "baby tower" segment of the tower industry? I am signing this petition because I think the work can be done safely if you know what your are doing. I think it is too easy to get into the 'little' tower business so a lot of inexperienced people are doing it and that is the reason for all the deaths. I say screw OSHA - look before you leap - dedicate yourself to lifelong learning and you can go home at night even if you do the "most dangerous job in America". There is no reason for so many people to die doing this work.
