FREE Austin Tice - journalist held in captivity by the Syrian govt. since mid August

    1. Petition by

      Free Austin Tice

Please help me. My good friend, freelance journalist Austin Tice is being held by the Syrian government.

The Assad regime has killed 19 reporters since the Civil War began in November, 2011. And now, they have released a YouTube video that confirms my dear friend Austin is in custody. See: http://youtu.be/dNdA0q9j040

When the Syrians were asked to release him, they responded with false accusations of spying, and blamed the opposition for his abduction.

PLEASE help get Austin released! You can help by:
1) contacting the the Syrian Embassy in Washington, DC, Ph: (202) 232-6316 (extension # 106, 133, or 107) Email: consular@syrembassy.net

2) by calling or emailing the US Department of State Emergency contact for US citizens in Syria. Ph: 1-888-407-4747 Email: SyriaEmergencyUSC@state.gov

I’ll never forget when Austin and I talked about his overwhelming need to report on the human rights abuses against innocent civilians in Syria. He was undeterred by my cautions to be careful while following his heart. I admired his courage and wished him well. Knowing now that he is in the hands of the Syrian government, fearing for his life, is tearing me to pieces. And he’s just one of many. As our news outlets lose resources, we are increasingly dependent on freelancers to know what is going on in the world.

Please help Austin Tice! Your supportive action will send a clear message to Syria and the US government that we will not tolerate this behavior and will not be silent until Austin Tice is FREE!

Together, we can save Austin's life! THANK YOU for caring and doing your part!

It is important to ensure that journalists can do their jobs without persecution or threat. It is important make ones voices heard against human rights violation, wherever, whenever.
