Stop the eviction of Skywalk Deli in Grand Rapids, MI

    1. Petition by

      Jace Browning

      Grand Rapids, MI

Skywalk Deli has been a Grand Rapids tradition for a decade providing quality sandwiches and salads made with local ingredients. Franklin Partners LLC has given Chris Fehsenfeld until December to vacate this location to make room for a rumored Panera Bread, which refused to compete with another deli. This is a major hit to Grand Rapids' tradition and culture. Sign this petition to tell Franklin Partners LLC that Grand Rapids does not want its local businesses evicted to make room for corporate franchises.

Some highlights from the MLive.com article:

      - "Franklin Partners executives wouldn’t comment on the situation but confirmed that no lease had been signed as of Monday. Gary Tamminga, Franklin director of facilities, refused to say whether there had been any movement on that front."

      - “We don’t have any comment on anything,” said Tamminga, who also would not speak to allegations made by MLive readers under Monday’s story that the deli owners have been behind on rent payments.

      - Don Shoemaker, Franklin Partners president, did not return a message left Wednesday.

Please continue to share this petition so we care force Franklin Partners to respond. Grand Rapids isn't just going to stand by while one of its local businesses gets forced out!

It's a local business, and the one and ONLY Skywalk Deli. You can go to many Panera locations.

I always support local business over national corporations. The Skywalk Deli is an amazing restaurant, and it would be a huge detriment to The City of Grand Rapids if it were replaced with a Panera Bread.

This a great place to get food and they have a unique menu. Small business like this one pay more tax dollars that that major corporations do. Support small business.
