U.S. Department of Peace: 10th Anniversary Action!

    1. Petition by

      The Peace Alliance

There is currently a bill before the U.S. House of Representatives to establish a United States Department of Peace (H.R. 808). This July marks the 10 year anniversary of it's first introduction (in this form). We recognize that this cause may take awhile to acheive, but it is important that we reamin vigilant to our national leadership that we desperatly need federal infrastructure in support of peacebuilding. A Department of Peace will work to augment our current problem-solving options, providing practical, nonviolent solutions to the problems of domestic and international conflict. From the growing rate of domestic incarceration to increasing problems of international violence, the United States has no more serious problem in our midst than the problem of violence itself. Prison-building is our largest urban industry, and we spend over 400 billion dollars a year on military-related expenditures. Yet there is within the workings of the U.S. government, no platform from which to seriously wage peace. We place no institutional heft behind an effort to address the causal issues of violence, diminishing its psychological force before it erupts into material conflict. From child abuse to genocide, from the murder of one to the slaughter of thousands, it is increasingly senseless to merely wait until violence has erupted before addressing the deeper well from which it springs.

Knowing that violence is a delusion and non-violence is an illusion, ergo, the illusion preferable, even though both don't exist, is just a piece of information, experientially knowing that nonviolence can stop most anything is knowledge; and can make a big difference- yet, only if people are walking the evolution’s way. If people really wanted peace they'd struggle not only with the devolutionary direction of the corporate structure's convolution, but, also, with the definition of power as destruction to extinction of others! Yes, I've always said, the rems pathologically lie, their motto is why tell a truth when you can lie; the tea partiers extremely pathologically lie (S.S.), their motto is why tell any ole' lie when you can tell an extreme one; yet, with the dinos, dems in name only, devolving from giving a good smattering of half-truths mixed with truths to pathologically half-truthing, caving to, and enabling the rems, destroying the dem party by that process, we must also struggle with the dems to exercise their responsibility to represent the people who elected them, and stand up to the rems- if they do, they'd win everything, if they continue to cave, they'll lose all. Ghandi’s “Abhaya”, fearlessness, is “necessary to the individual and the nation”; and without it there will never be anything that resembles peace except temporary instances of it during the “unending unnecessary wars” the remocrat conspiracy dictates take place- dictating the premeditated murder of 8 billion humans and the extinction of humanity and large mammals. reality
