Save Dancing in Fairfax County by voting "NO" on Zoning Amendment

    1. David Norton
    2. Petition by

      David Norton

      Bethesda, MD

The proposed amendment limits all dance floors to 150 sq. feet (12'x12')!!
(Into which they feel we can cram 50 dancers = 18 inches x 18 inches per dancer!)
This problem is not only going to be big but it will literally cause all dancing in Fairfax County to either cease or go underground!

I belong to dance clubs and travel 300 miles from Richmond, Va to attend different dance venues. It is impossible to do 2-stepping and other traveling couples dances in the restricted dance area proposed. This is another move by Big Brother to restrict freedoms when they have little knowledge of the subject.

The solution to the County's problem with regard to this amendment does not lie in restricting the size of the dance floors in local establishments. This amendment will severely affect Fairfax County businesses at a time when our economy and particularly our local businesses are struggling to survive and it will penalize members of all dance clubs/groups which meet weekly in local restaurants to teach dance and to support the local dance community and local businesses. I might add that many/most of these same individuals are Fairfax County residents and registered voters.

Dancing is the unification of the soul. Life is expressed thru dancing, so do not take life away fromFairfax county.

This is an overstep by local government and too intrusive. I object to it but blame all the other liberals in this county that gave the Fairfax County Board the discretion to determine such petty issues.

this has always been a FREE COUNTRY. why would you ever feel the need to limit dancing???? thats like making a football field smaller. NOT GONNA WORK. Just because dancing isnt "mainstream" doesnt mean we can be pushed around! SERIOUSLY! WHATS THE POINT! DUMBEST LAW EVER
