One in four American women will be beaten or raped in their lifetime. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women—more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined. Everyday in the US, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends. Every 9 seconds in the U.S. a woman is assaulted or beaten.

Facebook is a social network used by over 800 million people worldwide. Children as young as 13 are allowed to make Facebook accounts. If we want any chance of addressing the pervasive and horrific issue of domestic violence, we need to ensure that this type of graphic and misogynistic content is not condoned by such a widely used social networking site.

Domestic violence is not a joke. It's disgusting that Facebook doesn't include inciting violence against women in it's advertising policies. For shame.

Domestic violence is a serious issue, anything that promotes or encourages it should not be tolerated at all and the initiators need be banned permanently.
