* In America, a woman is abused by her male partner EVERY 15 SECONDS.
* In America, a man is abused by his female partner EVERY 15 SECONDS.
* 75% of victims killed by their partners are women...24% are men
* There are hundreds of battered women's shelters in the U.S.
* There are ZERO shelters for abused men. Male victims are redirected to homeless shelters.
* VAWA, the (Violence Against Women Act) EXCLUSIVELY refers to the ABUSER as male and the VICTIM as female. They are aware of this disparity and see no problem with the language
* VAWA is in part funded by the government. There is no such funding for male victims

TODAY WE CAN BALANCE THE SCALES. SIGN THIS PETITION TO GIVE A VOICE TO THE MEN WHO HAVE BEEN SILENCED BY BEING IGNORED. WE HAVE LOBBYISTS WHO ARE RIGHT NOW STORMING THE STEPS OF THE CAPITOL TO GET LEGISLATION CHANGED AND TO GET FUNDING FOR THESE VICTIMS. THIS COULD BE YOUR FATHER OR BROTHER OR SON. SAVE A LIFE.
Thank you

Statistics:
- A man is abused every 15 seconds by his female partner
- 24% of male victims are killed every year by their female abusers
-...
Statistics:
- A man is abused every 15 seconds by his female partner
- 24% of male victims are killed every year by their female abusers
- Most female abusers say their main reason for the abuse is the fact that they know he won't hit back
- Most men say they were raised not to hit a woman - which is good advice - but leaves him helpless
- The justice system tends to arrest first and ask questions later. These victims are often "blown off"
I would also like to add that most likely these statistics are grossly underestimated because of under-reporting due to societal stigma, lack of support in the criminal justice system, lack of resources (shelter, legal advocacy, custody advice, etc)
There is a horrible belief in our society that these men are just too weak to fight back, but it is quite the contrary. They show amazing restraint and resolve to NOT exert physical force. We must help them. We must save them..and their children.
We ask that you:
Give the grassroots organization: "The Charge" - a branch of the organization "Led To Serve, Inc.", a voice in the capitol to petition our legal/justice system for funds and other means to provide shelter, legal advocacy, child advocacy and counseling for these victims. These fund would also help us to promote awareness in the community.
Thank you for your consideration,

I was one of those, "Men Don't Tell"
REPORT THIS COMMENT:
As a victim of DV which has never been been allowed to even Talk to a Domestic violence advocate at the local DA office., I know how badly things need to change.
The police didn't do the WRITTEN procedures for Domestic violence. When I filed a complaint they said the officer did everything he was supposed to. A LIE. When I asked the DA why they weren't prosecuting, they told me that I was lucky not to be prosecuted!? I had called for a civil assist and the officer was never dispatched. She ran over me with a car and they didn't do anything at all.
The law means nothing to those in authority, if you are a male.
My dad was a victim of domestic violence by my mom so for my dad and other men who were and are victims i gladly sign this petition. it's time to help ALL victims.
I hope that we as a society will stop ignoring male victims of domestic violence and start treating partner violence as a human problem rather than as a gender issue. Female aggression and violence in both hetero and lesbian relationships should be taken far more seriously, and women should be held to account just as men are.
It's time to value ALL our people no matter the gender. men need help and we should give it to them. we should demand that everyone get the help they need.
Domestic violence is not about size, strength, or gender.
