End sponsorship of the Belfast Dog Show on September 29-30, 2012.

Eukanuba and Purina Dog Chow are the major sponsors of the Eukanuba World Cup Dog Show in Belfast by the Belfast Kennel Club Dog Show scheduled for September 29-30, 2012.

Over 200,000 individuals worldwide pleaded with the Belfast City Council to reconsider their decision and allow Lennox to be re-homed outside of the United Kingdom. Animal Rescue Organizations from around the globe and leading animal behaviorists, including renowned television personality Victoria Stilwell, offered reasonable alternatives to the Belfast City Council – which were ignored.

On July 11, 2012, with no hesitation, no fear of reprisal and no remorse, The Belfast City Council knowingly and willingly killed the Barnes’ family pet, Lennox, a non-aggressive Labrador/American bulldog mix. The actions of the Belfast City Council has fueled a Global Outcry demanding Justice for the Barnes family and review of the barbaric Breed Specific Legislation that the Belfast Council used to hide behind as a way of “proving their point.”

Eukanuba and Purina Dog Chow have the opportunity to make a difference by doing the right thing to honor LENNOX. After all, it should not be difficult for Eukanuba and Purina Dog Chow to find an alternate location outside of Northern Ireland and Belfast for the World Cup Dog Show sponsorship.

Failing to pull Support and Sponsorship from the Belfast Kennel Club Dog Show will be seen as Eukanuba’s and Purina Dog Chow’s passive approval of the despicable actions taken by the City of Belfast. In doing so, both companies will lose support of thousands of Pet Owners and initiate a full Boycott of Eukanuba and Purina products.

Please join me in telling Eukanuba and Purina Dog Chow to pull their support from the Belfast Kennel Club Dog Show on September 29-30, 2012.

Maybe one day you will get a knock on your door by Dog Wardens. They will say your dog “appears” to have a specific head size, His/Her chest is too wide/narrow, He/She looks similar to a dog breed they consider to be a dangerous breed based on a law enacted in YOUR Community.

When that happens, like Lennox, it won’t matter what you say. It won’t matter how much you beg or plead or your records proving he's been vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and has had a city license since a pup. It won’t matter that she has never done anything wrong. It won’t matter that your dog is a Loveable Mixed Breed Mutt or a Full Pedigree Champion who has never shown any aggression towards anyone. They will take your dog, your best friend & Family Member. When you attempt to present evidence in support of your Dog, they will tell you, if you resist, they will arrest you and take your Canine Companion into custody.

And YOU will wonder why you did nothing when they brought BSL to YOUR city. WE ARE LENNOX

    3. The Belfast Dog Show Society condemns our petition!

      Elisabeth McCormack

The Belfast Dog Show Society has issued a press release in response to our petition. “We are absolutely appalled that any person/persons from abroad, particularly people who should know better, are calling for a boycott on Belfast Championship Show in September, which merely exists to promote the positive side of dogs and dog ownership, to the public, educate the dog owning public, and offer the hospitality of our society and country to all dog enthusiasts, wherever they come from.”

Belfast Dog Show Society had many opportunities during the past 2 years to make a public statement showing their support for Lennox and the Barnes family. To the best of our knowledge, the BDSS has made no prior statement against the hideous acts of the Belfast City Council, or offered their expertise or assistance during the Barnes court battle. It is unfortunate that the Belfast Dog Show Society has waited until now to speak up, and may only be doing so in an effort to maintain their sponsorships.

Please don't support this event in Belfast. These types of actions must have consequences for cities or they will continue to act in such awful, nasty, illogical, and pointless ways. Please pull support and show them (and us) that you're paying attention to these outrages.

Will never, ever forget this horrible murder of a beautiful dog that was destroyed physically, mentally and emotionally by monsters. I will never purchase Purina or Eukanuba products ever again if if they support or sponsor this dog show and I will make sure all the animal lovers I know will do the same.

I dont believe dogs should be killed just because they are of a particular breed.
