Bring buses back for our students

Over 2000 kids pass through the intersection of East and Banyan Ave twice a day. 2 days ago a little girl was hit and killed by a driver who couldn't see her. We need to relieve the congestion and bring buses back to our schools. Last year a boy was hit by a car while riding his bike home from school. We need to keep our children safe. Some homes are over 3 miles away and there are kids riding their bikes and walking to and from school.

    1. Board Meeting August 21st 6:30pm, transportation on the agenda

Hello. This is a call to action to help expand and improve the limited bus service that has been brought back this year. So many of you have contacted me about the 3 miles restriction, the bus stops, the monthly charge etc. This is your chance to let the board hear you clearly.

Please join us tomorrow August 21st at 6:30pm at 6061 East Avenue, Etiwanda, Ca.

Transportation is on the agenda. Additionally, candidates for school board will be in attendance so you can meet them. I personally believe a changing of the guard on the board is well advised after closely observing the current board member's actions and attitudes.

Thank you for your attention to this important issue that impacts traffic and the safety of our kids.

Sincerely, Tressy Capps, Fontana City Council Candidate (951)333-2000

    2. Busing is Back!

Hello. In a stunning turn of events, the Etiwanda School Board reversed it's previous decision and voted last week to RESTORE BUSING SERVICE this school year. Details can be found here http://www.etiwanda.org/district/pilotbusing.htm
Similar to pilot bus ridership but fee will be $75 a month. Free and/or reduced lunch kids will get free and/or reduced bus. Please contact the district for details.
I want to thank everyone who had a part in this grueling fight. You showed up, you called, you wrote letters and they finally listened. I am now demanding videotaping of board meetings so our parents can easily watch and see what is happening in our district. We need to continue to push for expanded bus service so more children can ride (the same routes we had in 2009 when they cancelled busing due to budget concerns). The district has a healthy 42 percent reserve. We showed Mr. Long the money! Here are two videos detailing the fight. Take a moment to watch and learn what you missed:

Ashlyn Gardner's birthday is August 10th. Let's remember her family in our thoughts and prayers. She would have been 10 years old.

This contunued cut in spending is fucking ridiculous! Shit, out a change meter on the damn busses then! Safety of our kids IS the or should be the priority! Pull your heads out of your ass, take a walk around and imagine your kids amongst the neighborhood with traffic, and think for a second. Then imagine your kids walking or riding their bikes trying to get to school!

I have picked my two nieces up from school several times here and the system is a mess. Why do buses need to come back? Simple....it's just the RIGHT thing to do! Why is that so foreign to the people who hold the purse strings? Education departments all over this nation claim to have your kids best interests at heart. As you can see here....they do not. They will however fight you to the death on making sure there are enough tax dollars to fund their pensions.

"Budget cuts, we don't have the funding.."... so our children's means of getting to school safely was just tossed aside. That is NOT an ok solution. Our children deserve to be safe, EVERYDAY!

After what happened last week this just has to be fixed IMMEDIATELY!!
