Eric Cantor, come out, come out where ever you are!
  • Petitioned Congressman Eric Cantor

This petition was delivered to:

House Majority Leader
Congressman Eric Cantor
U.S. House of Representatives
Rep. Eric Cantor

Eric Cantor, come out, come out where ever you are!

    1. Petition by

      Wayne Powell for Congress

CNN tweeted the news first:

"CANTOR CANCELS: Specifically Cantor signed up for speech with a selected audience. Last night U Penn said it would be open to public."

“I think it’s a shame that a speech at a university should not occur because of some fear that there will be skeptics and critics in the audience,” said English professor Al Filreis of The Wharton School at UPenn, who added, “Clearly, the reason he canceled was that he wanted to speak to a friendly audience, and not one that would ask him difficult questions.”

Congressman Eric Cantor has a long history of avoiding his own constituents. Unless you're a corporation, a millionaire or a big campaign donor, Cantor has proven, time and again, he has no time for you. (And he’s certainly never voted for you!)

It's time Congress listened to the 99%. Demand Eric Cantor step into the real world and participate in our democracy by giving his speech in his home district and allowing the public to attend. No more cherry picking adoring audiences to use as props for your Fox News talking points.

It's time Cantor faced the public that put him in office.

Eric Cantor, as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, is supposed to represent ALL the PEOPLE not just millionaires. He has repeatedly refused to be accountable to the people of his congressional district and they have the right to be heard.

Mr. Cantor and the good ole boy system that got him elected to congress need to be exposed for the greedy hypocrites they are. Since he was elected to Congress, I have not seen Eric Cantor ever have an open debate, he is not smart enough to debate openly, but he's smart enough to never get himself in the position to have to! And while we're at it, anyone in either House who is a millionaire should recuse themselves from voting on wether to increase taxes on people who are worth more than a million dollars, that's conflict of interest. Oh wait, that's just about all of them isn't it?

Members of the House of Representatives were sent there to REPRESENT the People! What is so hard about that?

The positions that majority leader cantor espouses are those of the 1% who has courted incessantly since the GOP took over Congress. Why is he afraid to answer the questions of his constituents? The release of his remarks shows that the only solutions to the problems that working class Americans face are simply rhetoric and platitudes. His father and uncle went to a public university and took advantage of public infrastructure to become successful. His incessant demands to cut taxes for corporations and the rich seeks to deny us the same advantages his family had.
