End flogging in Iran

    1. Petition by

      Amnesty International Australia

Flogging is a cruel and inhuman punishment that has no place in today's justice system.

But under Iranian law, a flogging sentence can be handed down simply to punish people who've criticised the authorities.

The burning wounds from judicial flogging are often too much for victims to bear. The lashes sometimes leave people unable to walk unaided.

Add your name and stand with all those in Iran facing flogging - some for merely peacefully expressing their beliefs and opinions. We’ll deliver your signature directly to the Iranian Embassy in Canberra.

The role of any government should be to support and protect it's people, not persecute them.

No human being, of any colour, race or religion deserves to be treated like this.

because, regardless of any political, religious or culture related motivation, flogging people for documenting the happenings of every day life, being creative, or using film as a medium for expression is flat-out mentally challenged.
