Violence against women isn't something that should be considered for one day a year. Read about the successes of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and pledge to take action all throughout the year to end violence against women. Unifem has suggestions for action you can take. Leave suggestions for actions, or actions that you've completed, in the comments.

Es una forma de asumir el compromiso de ayudar en un problema, muchas veces enmascarado por las mismas victimas, debido a la falta de conocimiento de sus derechos. La educacion en este tema es una forma de lucha y sobretodo de prevencion primaria.

There is a huge need for Native American women to receive help & protection. I have a friend in ND that was able to leave her abusive partner after 14 yrs. She has done everything by the book and he is still free. He stalks & harrasses her and her family among other things. He is a scary man..a danger to society..but the law seems to be on his side. He just recently did about a month of jail time for grand theft & for breaking his grown daughter's arm. He is once again out and about drinking and doing his evil work.

When I was pregnant my husband became very violent. I tried to leave to my mother but she figured "our house was big enough and I needed to grow up." I had no money, no work, no education and no friends I could turn to.

Not till more than a year later, after a severe fight, my mother went ok with me staying with her. A year later, I regained my home and healing began. I had suffered 'abusive wife syndrome' and post-traumatic stress disorder.

It took me years to recover and I can't fully blame my former husband for it, but I'm sure I wouldn't have done a stupid act that caused me to be excluded from society for the next 12 years.

This caused my son (and me) to be very isolated, he's recently been diagnosed with Asperger-syndrome and though he may suffer lightly from it, I know it's been our isolation who made him what he is today. Isolation I've discussed many times before and nobody who mattered, listened when it mattered.

He's now doing great, great at school, much happier and outgoing. And he's absolutely against violence to women.

I haven't find the place in either my heart or time to accept a man again. I'm not sure if I can ever forget that when I asked for help, nobody listened, nobody helped out. I never needed anyone before or hereafter. I have missed a man in my life dearly but I only think "not before I have a decent income of myself". I don't think men like me much anyway.

sorry, my story ran off without my ending it. (Inheritance)  (You'll have to piece it togetherwith my previous piece.)

The judge who fabricated the case was married to another judge and he had his pals assist him, so everything just tumbled like dominos.  One thought he was smarter than the other.  It never even occurred to them that some of us just simply can't be intimidated.

After 9 judges and 10 lawyers, who have harassed me for the last 5 years, there is absolutely no where to turn.  No lawyer will take this case - which seems to be a RICO case  - and I'm hoping someone "out there" knows how I can get my story told and possible find legal assistance,   I have filed my own law suit (per se) in Federal court here as the SL was about to run out.

It has gotten so out of hand.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

I believe I have the biggest sexual discrimination/harassment case ever.
