This also helps our local economies because our money and resources are not being $ucked out to be HOARDED by corporate person hoods while too many in the world are starving. In my opinion, HOARDING is one of the biggest reasons WE are all in such deep doodoo today, in every aspect of our lives.

I will go to the farmers market every week.  We have a market somewhere in the county every day of the week so there is no excuse.  I do all my regular shopping at local non-chain grocery stores with lots of local items and Whole Foods but it is expensive.  My goal is to start my own garden in the spring.

Besides attending local farmers markets and farms for local produce I have been speaking to local stores/groceries about the lack of local food. Although local potatoes aplenty - where is the meat, the grains, the other produce that grows right outside our city?!?!

It has never made sense to me that there is a plethora of food grown in the area and yet all that is available in the grocery stores is California or Central/south american produce. This isn't even about food miles or carbon output to me (although important) - it is about common sense.

That local farmers have to look elsewhere to sell their grains, dairy, cheese, and produce and citizens are buying the same grown in other parts of the country is ludicrous.

As part of the garden collective here in Austin TX, we encourage the community to buy, eat, and grow for the local community.
