      Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that yesterday the NYC City Council voted unanimously to name the 500 block of West 121 Street George Carlin Way!

In two weeks I will be able to speak on George's behalf at City Hall before the Mayor signs the co-naming bill into law. This marks the triumphant conclusion of a three year process.

Going in I had no idea what I was getting myself into or how to even go about getting a street named. Taking on this process gave me a chance to speak to George Carlin's friends and family and to read some of his personal correspondences. I gained insights and access that as a normal fan I never would have had.

The best part was the chance to wage (and win) a public battle with the Catholic Church over the issues of decency, morality and George Carlin. How cool is that!

I have made new friends along the way and learned about the civic process. Thank you to all of the people who took the time to sign the petition and help spread the word.

This is important to me because George Carlin was a legend who deserves to be immortalized in this special way. Speaking as a Catholic man myself, I find every bit of George's comedy funny. Even God has to have a sense of humor.

Because this is minute compared to the so-called "righteous" people from the past that have been immortalized and later discovered to have had questionable pasts. Besides, George Carlin's many other professional successes surely outweigh his few "shortcomings".
