Disney Parks, Walt Disney Company: Save the Main Street Bakery!

On November 9, 2012, it was announced that the Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom would close in early 2013 and re-open later that year as a Starbucks.

While we applaud Disney's movement toward bringing more premium coffee options into its parks for its guests, we do not want to lose that piece of Main Street Americana that is the Main Street Bakery.

We want those unique bakery items that say "Main Street." We do not want the menu of food items that is at every Starbucks around the country.

Disney ~ at most, amend your agreement with Starbucks to only bring it in as your new coffee vendor.

Please keep the Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom as it is ~ wonderfully unique, nostalgic and special ~ for all current and future Disney guests.

Disney is a place to go to escape reality...beloved by families who go year after year....keep the chains out. there is no magic in seeing a starbuck sign.,,, just reminds us of work and home

Disney World is the ultimate escape from the real world. A magical experience that takes you into a fantasy land. With a reminder of the real world the magic disappers

I have visited Disney over 15 times. IT is a dream. Somewhere I go to escape reality. Somewhere to be with my family that took us away from everyday life and helped us cope with loss, disaster and hard times. Starbucks WILL ruin Main Street which is one of the first things you walk by! Smelling the rice krispie treats while passing the bakery was always my mothers favorite Disney moment. This breaks my heart and now I imagine walking in to the park and not escaping reality....but feeling like I'm still in New York.

My parents brought me to WDW since it opened. My husband and I have continued this tradition. We come every other year for the unique magic that only Disney could provide. Sadly, this experience has been eroding. The Food & Wine festival has turned into a classless drunk- fest and now the iconic Disney baked goods and Fountainview Ice cream cafe. Fresh baked waffle cones and the fountain or hot gooey cinnamon rolls and the castle are unique Disney magical combos - now obliterated by pre-packaged tastless food-stuff I can buy at any of the 3 Starbucks up the road. I can't see past it...hard earned time and money won't be spent on common place non-magical vacations.
