Stop the Deportation of Denverite Jose Luis Vazquez Campos

      Denver, CO

Jose is a loving father and husband who has been in the US for more than 7 years. He faces deportation on July 18th, 2012. Jose has two citizen children ages 4 and 6. He also has a sister who applied for him and is still waiting on the response. Jose faces deportation because he was racially profiled while driving without a license in Colorado. Two seperate officers began waiting for him along his route to work and pulling him over repeatedly. Besides the traffic stops, Jose's only record in the US is one of being a hard worker, a church goer, friend, husband and father.

Jose and his family are asking John Morton to use his discretion to grant Jose a stay of deportation and deferrec action while Jose waits for an answer on an application his sister submitted for him. Keep Jose where he belongs, home with his family in Denver!

All: Jose and Rocio wish to thank you for your attention to their situation and your support. There is no way to withdraw counsel without the attorney's signature as far as we and lawyer #2 know. Lawyer #1 is in Israel where we sent him an email asking him to sign the form. It is likely that a response will not come in time.
All they ask for now are your prayers that Jose have a safe journey and be protected during his time in Mexico. That he be safely reunited with his siblings, and that the family find next steps that bring them peace.
If you wish to help out with a donation to the family, email me wanderingpiper@gmail.com

    2. Update: Short story: People's lives hang in the balance on the right forms

At the Centennial ICE office to turn in a request for a stay of deportation to ICE. The official could have taken Jose's money & then denied him but instead explained to us that because Jose accepted "voluntary departure" the ball in still in the Chief Counsel's court. He then said that he could accept the paperwork & deny it if we wanted. We said no & thank you.

We called the Chief Counsel's office. They said that they can't accept the request for administrative closure because Jose's old lawyer is still listed as the lawyer of record. They said by law the Chief Counsel can't talk to Jose if there's a lawyer still still representing him.

We called the lawyer's office & he is out of town. His secretary has no idea what to do. She tried reaching the lawyer but no answer.

We called lawyer #2 who had covered for lawyer #1 at Jose's last court date. Lawyer #2 agreed to call lawyer #1's office & pull the paperwork together at 1:30pm today.

Stay tuned for action alert at 2:00pm

He has a family that needs him. If they sent him him back then his family has to go back . Why make a us citizen live in a very dangerous country just because their father mad a mistake to come to the country of dreams. Let's be real this country really belongs to the Indians just that our founding father kick them out to a reservation. Come on don't forget the trail of tears. I rest my case

I agree that it is vitally important to keep families together. I do not want to detract from this petition, but I feel that by adding a similar case http://www.change.org/petitions/tell-ice-stop-his-deportation we can show our various government officials that this is not an isolated incident, that ALL families that are healthy should be kept together. If you have signed this petition, I also ask you to consider signing the one linked above.
