Amend the Prom Dress Code

We, the student body of Deweyville High School, petition the school board to amend the current prom dress code. A modern overhaul is long overdue, and under the current criteria finding a dress that meets the requirments is strikingly difficult.

I do believe some sort of dress code should be implemented, however, Deweyville's current dress code is out dated and unrealistic. To me, it is unrealistic to have a young lady present her dress to 3 different people for approval before it can be worn to prom. The parents who are purchasing the dress for the young lady should be trusted to make that decision. Also the cost of the prom ($125 per person) is WAY too expensive. LCM prom was $50 per ticket. These kids are being taken advantage of!

I don't think teenagers should be treated as children. Turning 18 doesn't magically make you an adult. Being progressively treated as an adult creates adults. They're old enough to wear what they want without puritanical policies turning a fun event into a sour situation. Showing a little extra skin isn't going to corrupt anyone.

This is a time for girls to get pretty and enjoy themselves. It's not the 140 anymore dresses just about all dresses at that do not meet these ridiculous requirements.
