Fire Marshall stated that Hope's previous owner would not get her back.

Hope ( 26 lb mixed breed 1 year old dog) was set on fire by her previous owner/ caretaker on March 20th, 2014 in Arcadia, FL.  The neighbors pleaded with this person to seek medical attention for the canine.  Instead of seeking treatment this person replaced the collar that had melted off her during the blaze, with a chain and left her to suffer her 2nd and 3rd degree burns.  The neighbors contacted Hardee Animal Rescue Team (HART) to try to get the pup some help.  HART's member responded to the call and took the dog for immediate medical attention.  After 24 hours had passed, HART sought 24 hour trauma care for Hope.  After approximately one week, Her owner/ caretaker had responded on television that he wanted his dog back.  Then another individual from another city came forward stating that he was the dogs owner and wanted the dog, although neither even asked as to the dogs condition or welfare.  We plead with you to sign a petition to allow HART to retain ownership of the dog and not allow her to go back to her abusers and people who abandoned her to this fate.  Petition the Desoto County Sheriff's Office or Write the Animal Abuse Unit at Desoto County courthouse, 115 E. Oak St, Third Floor, Arcadia, Fl 34266.  Thank you for all the support for Hope.

The actions of Hope's former owner Larry Wallace were horrendous. No animal should have to endure the pain and suffering that this poor little girl (pup) had to. She is fighting for her life, will have to be intensive care with 24 hours 7 days a week for a very long time. She may even loose her eyesight (or some of it) in addition to her 3rd degree burns.

Please I beg of you, the law enforcement of Florida and the County to please NOT ALLOW Hope to go back there. He just might KILL her the next time. I am not a hateful person but I do pray that he is held accountable to the FULL extent of the law.

Hope has been a fighter through her recovery. Her will to live is a example to all that Love can conquer all. She will be placed in a caring, nurturing home I am sure. Love is something she didn't get before and she most certainly deserves that and a happy life going forward.

Again I beg of you, DO NOT allow HOPE to go back to that hell hole of a life she had before. Let her LIVE, Let her LIVE A HAPPY & LOVING LIFE!

In closing ~ “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

If this dog gets returned to the owner who burned her , then our judicial system is really screwed up . Anyone who can do this horrific thing to their own dog needs to be hung by his balls.
