Demand the Resignation of Sheriff Joe Arpaio

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has failed to protect the public and carry out his duties as an elected official in a Constitutional manner. The latest disclosure that MCSO failed to investigate hundreds of sex-crime cases involving children is just one in a long list of atrocities that have taken place under Arpaio's 20 years in power. Too many people have died in Arpaio's jails, too many citizens' Constitutional rights have been trampled, too many people have been forced to live in fear of retaliation for daring to challenge the Sheriff's policies. Now is the time to end his reign of terror, abuse and willful disregard for the Arizona and United States Constitution.

"A key reason for the petition, according to organizers, is what they characterize as Arpaio’s office’s disregard for constitutional rights. The letter that is part of the petition cites the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office failure “to investigate hundreds of sex-crime cases involving children,” which it says “is just one in a long list of atrocities that have taken place during Arpaio's 20 years in power.”

Ruben Navarrette Jr: "So what did Perry do when the Justice Department report came out? The worst possible thing. He doubled down on his bad judgment. He had already made two mistakes in snuggling up to Arpaio and accepting his endorsement. He went for three by defending Arpaio."

432 survivors haven’t been protected or served as a result of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s irresponsible behavior, rampant MCSO corruption and misuse of power. This has occurred despite the numerous investigations, lawsuits and Department of Justice investigations of Sheriff Joe and MCSO. These 432 children, women and men have been seemingly silenced, however, on December 22, 2011 from 4pm to 7pm members of the community are coming together to bear witness to their experience.

Puente Human Rights Movement is calling on members of the community to join us for a candlelight vigil to honor survivors of all forms of abuse.

The flames are lapping higher around Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Arpaio, the self-proclaimed “America’s Toughest Sheriff” because of his controversial crackdown – at the county level – on illegal immigration, now is under fire again because of the critical condition of a man who became unresponsive while in the custody of his deputies.

The man is now on life support, and “brain dead,” say published reports. His family is deciding when to take him off life support.

      Jonathan Perri

Randy Parraz of Citizens for a Better Arizona wants to know just how many botched investigations it will take for the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to call for Arpaio's resignation:

"If over 400 uninvestigated sex crimes are not enough for supervisors to join other elected leaders in calling for Sheriff Arpaio's resignation, then citizens want to know WHAT IS THEIR NUMBER?" wonders Parraz in a recent announcement to the CBA faithful. "Is it 500 uninvestigated sex crimes? 750? Over 1,000? Citizens want to know what it will take for members of the Board of Supervisors to break their silence."

Will you call the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors at (602) 506-3416 and ask them the same question? They need to know that not speaking out against Arpaio is the same as supporting his actions.
