Demand John Boehner call a vote to raise the minimum wage to $10.10

    1. Sponsored by

      Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee

Isn’t it time to raise the minimum wage?

President Obama thinks so – that’s why, in his State of the Union address, he proposed we raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.

In the wealthiest nation on earth, when the wealthiest among us are making more than ever, but a full-time worker making minimum wage lives below the poverty line, isn’t it time for a change?

Unfortunately, Republicans don’t think so. House Speaker John Boehner has already come out publicly against any minimum wage hike.

Take action today to demand that Republicans support President Obama’s federal minimum wage proposal.

To:
Rep. John Boehner and House Republicans
President Obama’s plan to raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10 is essential to an economy where everyone gets a fair shot and a fair shake.

Today, a full time worker making minimum wage lives below the poverty line. In the wealthiest nation on Earth, that’s not right.

Stand with President Obama on raising the federal minimum wage today.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

I have never had a job over $8.65/hour. Would be nice to be able to make a decent wage to actually be able to not live check to check. I don't know what that's like, and in today's economy, I probably never will. Raising the minimum wage won't resolve all the issues, but it's a start.

I've had to live off minimum wages, and support my young child. I don't want to be on food stamps anymore.

Server wage is below $5.00. It's not enough to pay my taxes, and I end up owing thousands to the gov., which is about 8% of my income, and it's not including what my paycheck has already taken. No one can live on minimum wage and actually live. America us known for working to live, and that's not a good reputation, since we are the wealthiest country.

The only way to get the American economy back on track is to close the income disparity. The difference between "middle-class" and wealthy has grown way to fast over the last 30 years. This is a good start, and as this epidemic is global America needs to take the lead.
