CONTINUE THE STRUGGLE TO STOP DEEP-SEA DRILLING

MEANWHILE, INSURE ALL OCEAN DRILLING  DONE IS WITH THE LEAST RISK TO OUR PLANET

                                          PLEASE SIGN&SHARE THIS PETITION

Preemptive Relief Wells (relief wells in place before the main well is struck) are the only reasonable safety assurance for deep-sea drilling short of banning the practice all-together. In addition, we need to retrofit all existing ocean wells with backup relief wells before the next "accident".

BP AND CONGRESS HAVE IGNORED THIS BEST SAFETY DEVICE FOR OFF-SHORE DRILLING. THE GULF DISASTER WOULD HAVE JUST BEEN A BAD ACCIDENT IF THERE HADN'T BEEN THE MONTHS LONG DELAY WAITING FOR RELIEF WELLS TO BE DRILLED BEFORE THE LEAK COULD BE PLUGGED.

Admiral Thad Allen, USCG Commadant in charge of the Gulf cleanup, suggested pre-emptive relief wells drilled before any main well is struck offer the only real way to insure safety in an ocean drilling operation. Admiral Allen suggested one pre-emptive relief well be drilled per platform for this substantial gain in protecting our planet: Adm. Allen's suggestion has been completely ignored, by the regulators, the industry and the U.S. government.

We are suggesting two preemptive relief wells be required on every deep-sea well before any final drilling permit be issued.

BP GETTING SET TO DRILL AGAIN - 6 NEW WELLS PLANNED FOR GULF.  NEW SAFETY REGULATIONS ARE ABOUT AS REASSURING AS THE ONES IN PLACE BEFORE THE GULF SPILL.  CAN WE AFFORD ANOTHER SPILL, OR TWO OR THREE?

COSTS/RISKS:    An average deep-sea platform costs roughly beteen $500 million and $800 million to build.  Preemptive relief wells cost about $1 million to install. Yet the U.S. Government and the oil industry do not seem to feel that protecting our planet is worth the relatively miniscule added cost of installing a couple of additional relief wells before risking our oceans to another Gull spill or worse.  PLEASE SIGN AND PROPOGATE THIS PETITION.

NO OCEAN DRILLING IS THE SAFEST WAY TO GO.

UNTIL WE GET THAT, THEN RELIEF WELLS ARE OUR BEST ASSURANCE

The ones that say "Safety is at the heart of everything we are about." Right. So why do they resist preemptive safety so fiercely? Keep sharing the petition folks - we need those signatures... thanx, red

There is little action on this petition; a signature or two, once in a awhile. But the threat does not go away. BP and others continue to get new leases to do the same thing over again. For the sake of the planet, I wish this would go viral. For the sake of my conscience< I keep it posted in hopes that one of you reading this will know the way to get hundreds of thousands of people to sign it. Please, someone, make it so....Please facebook, twitter and spread the word anyway you can - 119 sigs will not help much to change anything. Make it so....

This matter is about more than jobs and fueling engines, it's about risking ALL Life Forms and the non-life elements that support life. We never want to hear that there's only a small risk because once is far too great!

We need to put our tax dollars into alternative energy not into drilling that will hurt marine life.
