Victory

From Petition Creator Dan McKowan: "Well, we didn't get Home Depot to withdraw the offer to sell Chik-fil-a the lot, but Chik-Fil-A did agree to stop funding anti-gay hate groups. I think that's actually a much bigger win then we could have conceivably hoped for. This win actually goes to Alderman Moreno."

Dear Home Depot,

With your stellar support of LGBT rights, we now request that you end the controversy in Chicago and withdraw your offer to sell a parcel to Chick-Fil-A to allow them to build a restaurant in front of your store. Traffic is already problematic in this neighborhood, and their values do not correspond to the neighborhood, or to the values of your company.

While they have their first amendment rights to express their opinions, their $5 million+ in donations to anti-gay organizations shows their commitment to preventing equality in this country. Good businesses like you must stand up to corporate institutional bigotry.

WA company that uses patron’s money to support hate groups of any kind should not be located in a place of learning. These hate groups promote bullying and worse, homosexuality is a natural part of human evolution, to promote hate against one class of humanity causes pain to all of humanity.hy is this important to you?

Dan Cathy is free to hold whatever bigoted, narrow-minded, asinine, and archaic views he desires. However, when he (1) donates company profit to groups actively working to deny same-sex marriage and equal rights while also aligning with causes (such as Uganda's Kill the Gays Bill) which would make homosexuality punishable by death, and when he (2) proudly represents his sectarian personal views of denial of equal rights to an entire segment of the populous as company rhetoric, he openly invites all consumers to 'vote' with their dollars in either direction. And my direction is that I oppose my dollars going to fund Dan Cathy's provincial, intolerant, small-minded, hate mongering, homosexual bashing, anti-marriage equality, bigoted, and dogmatic pet organizations. I refuse for any of my monies to further causes and groups endorsing bigotry while opposing equal rights for an entire group of hard working, tax paying, societal supporting, charitable, and caring Americans. I support marriage equality as a civil rights issue for all.

I already had negative views of Chick-Fil-A because they hosted a tea party bus load of prejudiced people going around the country from town to town protesting against the health care law. one of them came up and talked to me and when I said that my daughter was lucky her husband had good health insurance because they had premature twin babies...and the chick-fil-a hosted tea party person said that well under obamacare my daughter could have an abortion. I was shocked by this because my daughters' babies were very much wanted babies. I have also read that chick-fil-a shows their prejudice in their hiring practices and discriminates against gay and lesbian people.
