DCPS Chancellor Kaya Henderson: Explain decision not to reappoint Mrs. Bunch and/or reverse decision.

As principal of Miner Elementary, Mrs. Bunch has had a tremendous and positive impact on the children, on the school itself, and on the surrounding community. Not reappointing a principal who has done so much for the children and for the community, and who has the love and support of these children and this community, would be detrimental to the children enrolled there, to the school's operation, and to its connections and partnerships in the local community.

For these reasons, we request, before June 28, 2013 (the date Principal Bunch has been asked to vacate the premises):

(1) a meeting with Chancellor Henderson to discuss this decision; and/or

(2) that Chancellor Henderson reverse her decision not to reappoint Principal Bunch.

Taking out our good leaders from schools that are growing stops the vision that the leader has for that school. I have heard all good things about Mrs. Bunch.

Ms Bunch lead Miner Elem successfully with a clear plan of action to educate the students with the valuable skills of respect, responsibility, and community through exploration and social discovery in a supportive and enriching educational environment. I recognize these leadership qualities and urge the decision makers to re-evaluate their position, considering these points.

Mrs. Bunch,s early childhood program helped my son to grow academically and socially. Keep her on as principal. We need more educators like her

My question is why remove a principal who has the support of the community, teachers and specifically, the PTA ? Mrs Bunch and her staff have provided an educational experience for her students that extends beyond the typical classroom into a holistic program where children are learning through actual experiences. Understanding the composition of her student body, she has sought to develop many innovative instructional programs that not only teach the required curriculum, but exposes the students to art, culture, nature and self awareness that our children will need to flourish in the real world. I am a graduate of DC Public Schools and as a resident, have grave reservations about this ailing system, but I have complete confidence in Mrs. Bunch, who is type of innovative and caring educator

administrator, that is necessary to meet the needs of the current student population. My grandson has flourished not only educationally, but socially while in the Pre-K program at Miner.
