This Service Lane provides very valuable benefits to the residents, businesses and visitors to Cleveland Park::availability of additional street parking spaces with more revenue to DC; safety and convenience for businesses and their customers protected from fast-moving Ct Ave traffic; comfort and convenience for handicapped, elderly and those who value close, safe access to merchants on east side of street; and many more too numerous to mention.

I live on the border of Cleveland Park and am a patron of the restaurants and shops there. The service lane provides easy access and a safe place to look for parking.

Service Lane provides additional parking, and actually adds to the charm of the strip!

I worked for many years in Woodley Park (now retired) but return there often to shop at small stores I have become familiar with. The service lane allows me to park and visit these small shops. Without it, parking and shopping would be much more difficult, and I would be less likely to go. Please don't get rid of this service lane, as it would be very bad for the business of these small shop owners. Thanks.

I am concerned that eliminating the service lane will negatively affect area businesses and make it more difficult for me to shop in Cleveland Park. I can't always carry my purchases, and many times I will drive to Cleveland Park on my way to or from an area that is either not served by public transit or is not served in a reliable way (especially on weekends). I am also concerned that eliminating the service road, together with other "smart growth" development policies in the District does not place adequate value on the diversity of ages in this city and may encourage or create pockets of elderly shut-ins throughout the city.

The neighborhood merchants who make CP a nice neighborhood to LIVE in (not merely the restaurants either), in, rely on the service lane which augments the pedestrian access by enabling drop-off, and short term parking, making deliveries, and saving this activity from impeding traffic flow on Connecticut Ave.
