David Dinsmore: Take The Bare Boobs Out Of The Sun #nomorepage3

    1. Lucy Holmes
    2. Petition by

      Lucy Holmes

      Hove, United Kingdom

We are asking David Dinsmore to drop the bare boobs from The Sun newspaper.

We are asking very nicely.

Please, David.

No More Page 3.

George Alagiah doesn’t say, ‘And now let’s look at Courtney, 21, from Warrington’s bare breasts,’ in the middle of the 6 O’ Clock News, does he, David?

Philip and Holly don’t flash up pictures of Danni, 19, from Plymouth, in just her pants and a necklace, on This Morning, do they, David?

No, they don’t.

There would be an outcry.

And you shouldn’t show the naked breasts of young women in your widely read ‘family’ newspaper either.

Consider this a long overdue outcry.

David, stop showing topless pictures of young women in Britain’s most widely read newspaper, stop conditioning your readers to view women as sex objects.

Enough is enough.

Thank you.

Hello to all 202,524 of you!!

A very quick and exciting email from us today!

Tomorrow Tesco is holding a meeting at Head Office regarding their policy on displaying ‪#‎pornpapers‬ at children’s height. And this is all thanks to YOU and the tireless way you have complained in store and via email.

It’s great that Tesco are listening but now we need action on this issue.

      PLEASE TWEET!! @Tesco

Here are a few ones you could send..(People are getting so creative and PUNderful with their tweets that we are offering a free t-shirt for the best one. Do tweet @tesco and don't forget to use #pornpapers in your tweet)

Please @Tesco stop displaying #pornpapers at child height in store. Change your policy and make stores family friendly

Dear @Tesco you may have Everyday Value but let's value what children see and put #pornpapers on the top shelf

With @Tesco issuing a profit warning, can it really afford to ignore equality any longer? Put the #pornpapers on the top shelf

New Tesco CEO, Dave Lewis and customer services
      dave.lewis@uk.tesco.com, ceo.customerservice@tesco.co.uk

(and feel free to copy in nomoresupermarketporn@gmail.com too!)

Here is a sample email we've written. We know that you write incredibly powerful and persuasive emails so PLEASE if you have time, do write one yourself.

      Dear Dave Lewis,

As a customer who has complained in store on numerous occasions about the way you position porn papers at children’s height. I would just like to say how grateful I was to learn that you are taking this issue seriously and holding a meeting at Head Office about your policy on this.

Sexualised images are not just inside these newspapers but often on the front covers with headlines such as 'It's OK to have sex with ten year olds' and ‘Child killing bastard stabbed me 27 times’. Often these publications advertise children's toys thus further luring children toward this content. I understand that you don't have a say in the editorial content of these papers, however, you most definitely have a say in where this content is displayed.

Please Live up to your core values - 'we put our responsibilities to the communities we serve at the heart of what we do' (tescoplc.com). and act and amend your policy about where you display The Sun and Star newspapers in your stores.

Thank you so much, you are all incredible!
And we’ll be back very soon…with good news! : )

Hello to all 199, 543 of you!!!
Ooo we are so close to the mighty 200,000!

We’re just popping in to share some good news, some bad news and to ask you to put some dates in your diaries.

First of all some really wonderful news!!
We want to send out a HUGE well done to Lee Craigie, Scottish mountain bike champion, for racing so brilliantly and coming 7th in the Commonwealth Games. We sponsor Lee thanks to your incredible generousity and she rode with No More Page 3 on her kit. We can’t tell you how proud this makes us and how inspired we are by her. http://leecraigie.com/2014/07/30/7th-place-glasgow2014-cathkinbraes-mountain-bike-race-yesterday-had-the-race-of-my-life-and-owe-that-to-the-crowd-thank-you/

And now, some not so wonderful news...
Despite so many of you supportive Co-op members voting overwhelmingly in different regions for them to put The Sun and Star on the top shelf and stop advertising in The Sun, the Co-op have decided not to take any notice.

But, of course, we’re not stopping!!

If you are as cross as we are about this then please feel free to let Co-op know your feelings. They are currently collecting feedback on erm.... Fairness....(yes you read it right) here http://co-opletstalk.co.uk/topic-fairness/...
Or you can tweet them @CooperativeFood
      Email them at Customer.relations@co-operative.coop steve.murrells@co-operative.coop
Or the food board here - CEO Food barry.clavin@co-operative.coop (ethics manager)

We received a great note of support this week from The Children’s Commissioner for Wales. “It’s time to stop accepting and start challenging this content.”
      Read more here http://nomorepage3.org/news/words-of-support-from-keith-towler-childrens-commissioner-for-wales/

And now for those dates in your diary!
On Sunday 17th August our two favourite football teams go head to head for the No More Page 3 Derby!!
Nottingham Forest Ladies FC and Cheltenham Town Ladies FC both of whom we sponsor will be playing this Sunday at 2pm in Nottingham. Do go along to whoop and cheer! ‪#‎kiton‬

On Sunday 24th August we will be 2 years old!!
And because The Sun is stuck in 1970 we’ll be having a little 1970s inspired party picnic. We’ll be outside The Sun offices, in London, from 2-4pm. Come along to nibble cheese and pineapple on sticks, enjoy a piece of cake and applaud ourselves for our merry and relentless campaigning over the past 2 years- https://www.facebook.com/events/1439830929638602/

So with the ‪#‎mighty200000‬ coming soon and our birthday coming up, we would just like to say that we love public declarations of birthday greetings and congratulations!! (Cheeky aren’t we?!) Do tweet @nomorepage3 or Facebook https://www.facebook.com/NoMorePage3 them!

And for now we’ll be off…but first a massive THANK YOU for being part of this campaign,
Lucy, Lisa, Sarah, Sarah, Stephanie, Angela, Pippa, Jo, Jo, Yas, Anne-Louise, Brenna, Ceris, Asa, Sian and Kathryn

7th place @Glasgow2014 #CathkinBraes mountain bike race yesterday. Had the race of my life and owe that to the crowd. THANK YOU

Yesterday went by in a blur of nerves and celebration. I've slept for an hour and now I want to make contact with you all and thank you for your support and encouragement. My day started early. I pinged awake at 5.30am and had done 6 laps of the course in my head before I...

    4. A Little Update from No More Page 3

      Lucy Holmes
      Petition Organizer

Hello to all 199,007 of you,
Look, we’re now a movement of nearly 200,000 people!!!

As you can imagine, we are pretty excited to be reaching the 200,000 mark - and we’ve a few things up our sleeves to celebrate that we'd love you to be a part of. We’d like to use this opportunity to share all our reasons for signing and to inspire others to get on board…

      * Whether you're an individual, part of a team, group, charity or business. All you have to do is finish off this sentence 'I signed because....' in whatever format you like. This could be in a tweet (#isignedbecause) a photo (with you holding up a #isignedbecause sign), a blog, a newspaper article, a video, a song, get as creative as you’d like (mime? frosted icing?).... Just tweet/Facebook/email (nomorepage3@gmail.com)

Watch our first #isignedbecause videos here! With Stella Creasy MP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLJBLAW_9yU and Caroline Lucas MP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeZN__QogU0

      * We are super excited to let you know that our regional groups have been springing up all over the country. We had 10 new groups start up in one week alone! New groups in Birmingham, Bristol, Brighton, Newcastle, London and Cardiff to name but a few. We'd like to thank all the incredible individuals who are blowing so much energy into these groups and the campaign. http://nomorepage3.org/regional-nmp3-groups/

You know we say we're doing this? Well, YOU are doing this!
And one of these things you are doing is challenging businesses about their association with The Sun. A lot!!

      * An awesome supporter has set up a petition asking Costa to stop supplying The Sun in cafes. It currently has over 27,000 signatures!!!! Please do sign and share. http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/costa-coffee-press-office-please-stop-supplying-copies-of-the-sun-in-your-restaurants

*Stephanie Davies-Arai challenged Justin king (Sainsbury's CEO) at their AGM about the placement of unsuitable tabloids like The Sun in their stores. Mr King's response, like all other supermarkets, was the disingenuous "we don't comment on editorial matters". http://agm.shareaction.org/debating-access-soft-porn-sainsburys-ceo

      * Fuelled by the lack of responsibility the supermarkets are taking for the placement of tabloids in stores, we've teamed up with Child Eyes campaign to TAKE ACTION!!! We really need you to help us by being relentless in complaining in the supermarkets when you shop and emailing them at the end of the month to persuade them to put #pornpapers (The Sun, Star and Sport) on the top shelf.

Click here for more info on exactly what you can do to help http://nomorepage3.org/news/supermarkets-top-shelf-porn-papers/
We really feel there is a chance of convincing them but it relies on all of you!!

*And on the topic of lobbying… We successfully lobbied EE who have been selling mobile phones for children to use that had an option to click on ‘Page 3 girls’ under the heading 'fun and games'. http://www.theguardian.com/business/2014/jun/17/ee-promises-urgent-review-into-page-3-phone-option?CMP=twt_fd

We’ll be back very soon but we’d just like to leave you with the BIGGEST THANK YOU to you all for being part of this campaign - although we’ve been told that as we have so much support now we should officially call ourselves a movement…

…Thank you so much for being part of this movement.

Lucy, Lisa, Sarah, Sarah, Stephanie, Angela, Pippa, Jo, Jo, Yas, Anne-Louise, Brenna, Ceris, Asa, Sian and Kathryn

Hello from us at No More Page 3 and a truly MASSIVE thank you for signing the petition and speaking out on this issue.

We really believe we can do this. We passionately believe this daily dose of sexual objectification will stop soon and we promise you we're working to the best of our ability to make this happen.

We need you to help us.

Please, please, please can you now share the petition with as many people as you can?

      We've started a facebook group

      And a twitter feed

to make it easier for you.

Or you could cut and paste the petition URL and email it to your contacts.

If each person who signs could get even just 3 other signatures the ripple will quickly become a wave.

      Let's do it.

      Thank you.
