Violence and homophobia are serious issues that affect everyone, plague our society, and they should not be tolerated coming from University of Arizona supported public media.

Script of The Cartoon:

Father: Ya know son...
If you ever tell me you're gay...
I will shoot you with my shotgun, roll you up in a carpet and throw you off of a bridge...

Son: Well I guess that's what you call a "Fruit Roll Up!"

Father and Son: Ahh Ha ha ha Ha ha... bwah Ha Ha ha Ha ha haa!!

Condoning violence and homophobia by allowing this to cartoon to run is reprehensible and cannot be tolerated as acceptable with a simple apology or explanation.

Arizona Daily Wildcat :: An apology from the Wildcat

The Arizona Daily Wildcat does screw up, and acknowledging its mistakes and oversights is critical to its accountability. On Tuesday, the Wildcat staff made a serious error in judgment in printing a cartoon that some readers felt was homophobic and inappropriate.

condoning homophobia in any public paper is an offense to anyone, gay or not, that supports any form of equality and freedom, be it of choice, speech or though
