November 2012

From Petition Creator MAJ Christopher Bonds: I mobilized a united front with my family, friends and the community. I was able to reach not only supporters I know, but others that agreed with my cause. I learned that you have to go beyond your community and inner circle to gain local, national or international exposure. The Petition on was monumental in reaching the masses that I otherwise would not have been able to. Access to and the sharing of information is also key to being victorious. made all the difference. Thank you!!

MAJOR Christopher Bonds is a 24 year Army Officer and Operation Enduring/Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn Veteran that was wrongfully arrested and maliciously prosecuted on June 28, 2008 by the Chicago Police Department for a crime he did not commit.

MAJOR Bonds endured over 20 hours of Police torture while in custody (from June 28-29, 2008) by the Chicago Police Department. He was:
1) Denied water and restroom privileges for over 8 hours.
2) Handcuffed to a ring on a wall for over 8 hours.
3) Denied any food for over 19 ½ hours.
4) Questioned by a Detective without the presence of his Attorney.
5) Maliciously prosecuted his case without probable cause (and did so).
6) Not allowed to make a statement to the Chicago Police (after the arrest).

MAJOR Bonds was arrested on allegations of aggravated assault on June 28th, 2008. The plaintiff was his wife’s 94 year old Aunt. Both MAJOR Bonds and his wife had been the primary care providers for her Aunt since 2003. His wife’s Aunt was diagnosed with Dementia of the Alzheimer's type in 2006.

Prior to being arrested in 2008, MAJOR Bonds had absolutely no prior criminal history, arrest, trouble with the law, not even a speeding ticket.

The investigation of all evidence and witnesses confirmed that no crime: Assault, Battery, Abuse or Physical Harm in any way was ever done to his wife’s Aunt by MAJOR Bonds (As previously stated in the formal complaint).

Even after his wife’s Aunt admitted to the Chicago Police that MAJOR Bonds never physically harmed her, and two Chicago Paramedics examined her and found no injuries, MAJOR Bonds was still arrested and maliciously prosecuted (See story by Mary Mitchell, Chicago Sun-Times, and Aug 20, 2009)

The Cook County State's Attorney dismissed this case against MAJOR Bonds on Nov 17, 2008, but refused to Expunge his record even though no crime or conviction had ever occurred.

The goal was to make a public example out of MAJOR Bonds, an innocent Citizen Soldier, husband and father by withholding evidence, investigation misconduct and violation of his Civil Rights.

Even in the face of this injustice, MAJOR Bonds still deployed with his unit (Army) to Kuwait/Iraq in 2010, (receiving the Army Meritorious Service Medal/Award), putting his life on the line in harm’s way to protect the Freedom/Liberties of all Americans; even the corrupt Chicago Police and the Cook County State’s Attorney that wrongfully arrested him.

Please take a stand and in fighting these Gross Injustices by demanding the Cook County State's Attorney Expunge and Seal the Record of MAJOR Christopher Bonds.

    2. City of Chicago submits a Motion to Reconsider, Jury Trial set for Sep 12th

The city of Chicago is attempting to delay my Jury Trial . The City has requested a reconsideration of the ruling. The Judge granted my request for a Jury Trial based on "THE LACK OF EVIDENCE REGARDING THE PLAINTIFF'S GRAND JURY INDICTMENT". The Judge essentially stated, that there was a lack of evidence, medical proof or any material evidence to establish probable cause. Simply put, the Judge's opinion was "NO CRIME HAD BEEN COMMITTED!" hince "NO PROBABLE CAUSE EXISTED!" Sat, June 28, 2008 at 9:05 am is that fateful day I was Wrongfully Arrested". The arresting Det. was aware that on May 18, 2008 that I had called 911 after my Aunt became delusion, combative and began striking me in my face. Police and Paramedics were dispatched and arrived at my residence withing 4 minutes of the incident. The authorities determined no crime was commited and left without incident (no Police Report), but I was still arrested 6 weeks later despite this and other (fact based) evidence.

    3. City Motion to Dismiss Denied. My Motion for a Jury Trial Granted!!!!!

      Good Afternoon Family and Friends,
I wanted to give you some good news.
My motion was approved for a Jury Trial!
Judge Catherine Flanagan has ruled to deny the Summary motion to dismiss by the City of Chicago and upheld my motion for a Jury trial.
The City of Chicago Law Department/Chicago Police are not laughing at me anymore!!!!
This is a huge victory, not just for me, but anyone that has been wrongfully arrested or profiled by the Chicago Police or Cook County State's Attorney.
The Jury selection will start soon and the trial will take place late this fall.
The battle is still not over, but now I have the comfort of knowing that,
Thank you, God bless and have a great weekend.

    4. City submits their Motion to Dismiss my lawsuit on May 19, 2012

With respect to probable cause, there is a genuine issue of material fact as to whether the Defendant’s (Chicago Police) complete failure to interview any witnesses or First Responders prior to the arrest (June 28, 2008) and its failure to review and consider medical documentation that the alleged victim had dementia demonstrate either no investigation whatsoever or that a grossly negligent ‘investigation’ took place. It is notable that, according to the Detective's own reports, the alleged incident occurred May 18, 2008, the very same date that Mr. Bonds called 911 and paramedics, police officers and firefighters arrived at the Bonds home. On May 18, two paramedics examined Aunt Susie and found no reason to issue any report of assault against Mr. Bonds. Further, this sameChicago Fire Department Paramedic found no reason to include any type of injury report or make any other record relating to any injuries suffered by Aunt Susie during this time period because there were no injuries.

The City refuses to settle and expunge my record. I have requested a Jury Trial for my lawsuit. The City of Chicago Law Department is attempting a Summary Motion to have my case dismissed, ignoring their accountability of my pain and suffering, lack of probable cause, wrongful arrest and malicious prosecution. Pressure must be put on the Chicago Justice System to seek a positive outcome for me (MAJOR Bonds).
The average citizen has major obstacles in overcoming the Political/Legal power of City authorities. I have spent over $40,000 fighting the City of Chicago to clear my good and honorable name. I am innocent and I will continue to fight for truth and justice.
