Eliminate the 1yr wait for veterans who apply for disability benefits.

    1. Petition by

Pay them all and let God sort them out!

It's the right thing to do. It's the smart thing to do. It's the safe thing to do.

There are almost 900,000 (yes, nine hundred thousand) veterans waiting to get awarded disability.  Veterans are waiting a year or more to hear back on their claims. That is obscene!  Imagine how awful that is for a disabled vet, their family and friends.  If a veteran - especially any veteran who has served in a combat zone - applies for disability benefits, just pay them!  Even if (perhaps especially if) you did not support or approve of the war that veteran served in, please don't allow those who choose to send our military abroad to ignore the cost of that war, or expect veterans and their families to suffer or sacrifice more than they already have.

We give every U.S. citizen the benefit of the doubt regarding their honesty when they file their tax returns, and audit only a percentage of the returns to encourage honesty. Surely we can give the same benefit of the doubt to veterans!  We could do that, or we could investigate those still requesting benefits by the time the VA gets around to them, or we could do something else but we must not make veterans and their families wait any longer. It is a shame and a disgrace, and it rests on every citizen of this country.

If I cannot appeal to your sense of justice, your national pride, or your heart, please consider the benefits to you, personally. Releasing disability benefit payments to veterans would help stimulate the economy, so it would help all of us financially. Additionally, it seems remarkably stupid to make promises to a whole bunch of people, teach them to be warriors, put them through hell, then bring them home, break those promises and make sure they and their families are suffering unnecessarily.  What would *you* do if someone shipped *you* to a combat zone for most of your adult life and then, when you were too hurt to hold a job, dumped you in the states with no income?  That's what I thought.  Now, thank your lucky stars nobody's shot you, say a prayer for the families of those who've shot themselves, sign the petition, call your member of Congress and scream bloody murder - you won't be exaggerating.

You could tweet, blog, share, email, and make this a national uprising.

These men and women put their lives on the line for all of us. We owe them the best care we can get them. This is the way to 'Support the Troops'.

My husband is a 3 time combat veteran and has been unable to collect his full percentage because another guy in his unit has been claiming his (my husband's) injuries!

I am a veteran and I am tired of waiting for the government to take care of me and treat the conditions that I got serving my country!

I am antiwar all the way, but want the soldiers taken care of. Please stop making them pay twice for their service, first for their injury and second for the insult of making them wait for assistance.

I served from1971-74. Officials should not make promises that can't be kept. Wonder why we have so much dishonesty in debates. Know that they can get away with it. Eg. Everybody else does it; why not me!
