In todays congress womens rights are being trampled upon. It's time we pass an ammendment to guarantee women equal rights and representation before the Right Wing Evangelicals start chipping away at womens issues because they are not directly named in the constitution that should protect them

Women have the same responsibilities as citizens as men. So, we deserve to be protect by the law in the same way.

As an historian, I understand the importance of Americans' struggle for independence and equality. It is sickening to think how long women have had to wait. Even though they played a pivotal role with boycotts and venturing into the public sphere up-to and during the American Revolution; they were told to go back to the private sphere of the home and raise good Republican sons. Women championed abolition of slavery in the North, yet were told to wait their turn after the Civil War. Alice Paul was the first PERSON to protest outside the White House during American involvement in the First World War. Women finally got the vote in 1920. Yet almost a century later, they are still not treated as equals. Equal pay for equal work is not unreasonable. Women should have a say in their health care and choices that affect their bodies. This is not something that government should interfere with, but should protect.

Equal rights for women means 51% of the population are treated as human beings with equal rights to the 49% of the population who are men. It should have passed a long time ago.

I'm doing this not just because I'm a woman. I believe everyone deserves the same right regardless of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation.
