The Electoral College was started by a group of politicians who believed the average American was to ignorant to decide for themselves.   At the bare minimum with the  definition of ignorance in mind. (lack of knowledge on a particular subject) coupled with  for lack of media coverage this was in fact true, 50 years ago.

These days the average American citizen  is very aware of the election process and wants his vote to count.  He knows how each candidates agenda will effect his or her family.  The media may paint our political choices in slanted ways and we may buy into the rhetoric,  but we are educated enough to decipher through the spin and  choose for ourselves the person who we desire to run our nation on our behalf.

We are a Democratic nation and we proudly wave our red white and blue to show our pride as a nation built on freedom.  The Electoral College contradicts the very foundation on which our nation was founded. It diminishes our ability to think for ourselves.   No longer rational or patriotic, today the Electoral College contradicts not only our beliefs as a nation it's likeness to the Autocratic philosophy who's core belief is dictatorship is stippling.

Eliminating the electoral college is an age old battle but today it is quite possibly more relevant than the election itself.  Fight with me to make your vote count America. NO MORE ELECTORAL COLLEGE!!

At the best of times, the electoral college matches up with the popular vote of the people, and at the worst of times causes a man not elected by the majority of the people's votes to take power.

I have never understood the electoral college, neither in high school or college. We should conduct elections in the easiest and truest means possible- one legal voter means one legal vote, not by some politically contrived action to further separate us from our elected officials.
