CMU is not fulfilling its mission and its commitment to diversity and inclusion. People in positions of leadership at the university are continuing to engage in discrimination against this student. Help support Kelly's goal to get her education and tell the administration at CMU to stop audism and oppression.

Just because someone cannot hear does not give a university a reason to discriminate!

I have been a Teacher of the Deaf for over 40 years and believe that the College's actions represent a refusal to accept the different needs of people with disabilities. It is a disgraceful action and should be condemned

Laatsch has invested a lot of money and time for her education and degree in teaching. The Americans with Disability law provides the necessary provisions for students (adults) to receive the interpreters as they need. Laattsch knows she cannot hear the certain sounds! Listen to her, please! Thank you!

I am Deaf and I graduated from Boise State University recently with a MA in English Education and a teaching certificate for Secondary English. I used interpreters full-time for my student-teaching in an all-hearing 9th grade classroom for a full semester--NO questions asked.

I have also taught (and continue to teach) university-level English courses to hearing students, with interpreters. CMU's handling (er...mishandling) of this situation is shocking and repugnant.
