Do not build a new Animal Control Facility

      Evansville, IN

The following is a list of people who do not believe in this new animal control facility, and believe it will be in the worst interest for the City of Henderson and the animals that are affected. Right now, The euthinasia rate is 4-7% and if Animal Control seperates from the Humane Society, we could see that sky rocket to upward of 80%. The funding that is available could go to the Animal control facility now, and help with new equipment and such.
On behalf of the animals of Henderson County, we sign this petition to stop the new building, and to keep the Animal Control Facility combined with the Humane Society to save lives! Please take time to read this, and consider this.

Why go to the extream expense, when you could help save lives and care for, by putting money where it will do the most good helping whats already there....If it ain't broke, don't fix it....

We need to try to keep animals alive so that they can find good homes. We should not support a cause that will kill more animals.

I don't live in Henderson. I live in Moore County. The local Humane Society used to run the county shelter, but is now a separate entity. I give you as an example of what can be accomplished by having a city/county shelter and a local nonprofit combined....Guilford County Animal Shelter! I wish my county shelter was like it. Moore's is a nice structure but the kill rate is so high because it does not accommodate any where near the number of animals. It does allow adoptions, and it also allows a local rescue to pull animals without charge. But I think if a city/county can combine a public facility with a nonprofit, it is the best of both worlds for the animals. I don't mean to be sticking my nose in where it is not welcome, but just offering my opinion based on information from experience. Hope the city will reconsider and give the animals of Henderson a better chance at life.

Because if someones animal gets out for any reason that normally doesn't you have kill it in 24 hrs. I believe that you should give the owners a chance to find them. And I hate to see ANY animal killed, find them homes.

Use this money to enhance the system you already have! SAVE animals, don't condemn them to a horrible and lonely death. it is time stop killing companion animals.
