City Commission of Kalamazoo: Stop the idea of creating a new noise ordinance for Downtown Kalamazoo

You should support this petition if you believe that a noise ordinance of 11p on the weekends is a bit excessive.
The impact of a noise ordinance would be detrimental to the economy and tourism of the city. Needless to say it would also negatively affect musicians and the music industry.

We look forward to our summers filled with music in K-Zoo. If you don't like it, just move or join in the fun. I don't think your ears will fall off.

If you choose to live downtown, you have to accept everything that goes with it...including festivals that go until 1:00am!

I am a local musician, and have had the privilege to have played at Arcadia and other outdoors venues in the downtown area. Having a noise ordinance would not just harm the late night economy of downtown Kalamazoo. It would hurt us, the musicians and artists by shortening our set lists or even limiting the number of acts that can perform. Doing all this would negatively impact all involved. As I saw on another person's Reasons for signing this, if you didn't want "noise", why move right next to a concert venue? There are plenty of places all around town where it won't be as "noisy". Don't hurt the economy and us artists just because a select few inept residents have an agenda to fill. Downtown has finally become a place that people want to go and taking things away that make our downtown a GREAT place to go all spring/summer/fall would just set us back to where we were. I think you all DON'T want that.

I've lived in Kalamazoo my whole life. The noise of sirens, church bells and traffic is much more offensive than the late night arcadia entertainment.

I attend many events and concerts in Kalamazoo, and it's always a big disappointment when they end at 11 pm - particularly on weekends!
