Chief Gerald Nelson: Keep the Impact Zone on Franklin Avenue

Franklin Avenue has come a long way over the past few years and the Impact Zone has been a huge factor in its revitalization; new businesses are opening and community spirit has greatly improved. However there is still a persistent threat on the Avenue of illegal activity and the accompanying gun violence that has traditionally plagued Franklin Avenue. The loss of the Impact Zone has the potential to reverse the progress that has been made and precipitate a sharp decline towards former dangerous conditions.

As it is said the Impact zone is needed so that the community can be revitalized. The community has a long way to go to becoming family orientated. The long Avenues of Nostrand and Franklin is still plagued by illegal activity without the impact zone those who are involved will not think twice and destroying a safe and secure community. Impact Zone is beneficial also to the rookie cops so that they can gain experience and see how much cops are needed in the community.

Please keep the impact zone on. It has made a big difference in the community and will continue to keep the neighborhood safe. I've lived in crownheights for seventeen years. I know how unsafe it was back then and the changes that's been taking place to make it a safer place for people to work and live. Please keep up the good work in the end it will help us, you the community. Thank you.

Please not only keep the impact zone, but also expand it to include Nostrand and Kingston Avenues. The revitalization of community, not simply gentrification, depends on safe neighborhoods.

Crow hill should remain an impact zone as long as the Bedford armory is a homeless intake center. Also, your officers should deal with the fact that the homeless are loitering and drinking in public all around the armory. I constantly see the officers just standing around while people do this. DISGUSTING!

The additional police presence provided by the impact zone allows me to feel safe when I walk home at night. It is my fear that without the extra patrols we would see a dramatic swing back to the crime levels of years past. Please do not allow that to happen to our community.
