Stop funding hate groups and anti-gay causes

We, the undersigned, protest Chick-fil-A using its corporate profits and family-controlled WinShape Foundation to fund organizations that aggressively work for or support the criminalization, psychological coercion or death of LGBT people. Our protest is based on objective data contained in publicly available 990 reports detailing years of donations of approximately $5 million to organizations such as Eagle Forum, Exodus International, Family Research Council and Focus on the Family. The highly respected Southern Poverty Law Center has designated many of these groups as official "anti-gay" groups or "hate" groups.

Because of this, we call to action those college sports organizations and divisions, campuses, companies and media groups supporting or participating in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Our signatures below specifically request all college sports organizations and divisions, namely the ACC and SEC, to withdraw their support and participation from the Chick-fil-A Bowl; all campuses and teams to withdraw their support and participation from the Chick-fil-A Bowl; all sponsors, namely AT&T, Coca-Cola and Delta Airlines, to withdraw their support and participation from the Chick-fil-A Bowl; and for ESPN to withdraw their support and participation from the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

By distancing themselves from the Chick-fil-A Bowl, those groups named above will distance themselves from documented funders of known anti-gay and hate groups, and in so doing will signal they stand by their own ethical anti-discrimination policies, employees and customers.

Hate in any form or support is wrong, Chick-fil-A's CEO has his opinion which is based on a religious interpretation of which are numerous but when you represent a national corporation in this country and use it’s financial gains to further an agenda of hate and discrimination of US citizens you’ve crossed a line. Either the values of this nation have substance for all or all the many sacrifices of generations of citizens has been in vain!

This is important because, we need to stand up to hate groups that infringe upon the lives of this country's citizens. Although companies are entitled to opinions and beliefs, we can't look the other way when a company donates money to promote hate through discriminatory groups.

Because bigotry is bad for business and it's bad for America. Chikfila donates money to organizations that actively work to block equal rights for LGBT Americans and their families.

I can't wait for this to be a far away memory once gay marriage is legal.
