The Chicago Sun-Times recently published a disgusting and transphobic Op-Ed entitled "Laverne Cox is Not a Woman." In this embarassing piece 'writer' Kevin D. Williamson repeatedly refers to Laverene using male pronouns and goes on to discuss his anti-trans* and homophobic ideals.

Mr. Williamson seems fixated on Laverne's genitalia and says, "Regardless of the question of whether he has had his genitals amputated, Cox is not a woman, but an effigy of a woman."

Gender is not contruct dictated by the sexual organs that we are assigned at birth. Trans* people are at an overwhelming disadvantage when it comes to things such as job placement, and have an incredibly high rate of sucidality.

Trailblazers like Laverne Cox and Janet Mock are paving the way for young LGBT* people to realize their worth and are showing society that trans* people, like all people, matter and deserve equality.

Stand with me in demanding that The Chicago Sun-Times remove and apologize for this disgusting example of transmisogyny in America.

Chicago Sun-Times
Retract your disgusting and transphobic op-ed on Laverne Cox and stand on the right side of history. Laverne Cox and the trans* community deserve an apology.

This is disgusting and just embarassing for the writer. He clearly has no queer or trans-identifying friends and is totally unfamiliar about the issues, so he's the LAST person who should be writing about it. Be responsible for your own education! Go learn something

Wow! We all need to support one another. This means everyone. And transgendered people are people.
