The film Miss Representation exposes how American youth are being sold the concept that women and girls’ value lies in their youth, beauty and sexuality. It’s time to break that cycle of mistruths.

This is media literacy at it’s finest. And the same reason I started a petition to have more women in congress. http://www.change.org/petitions/more-women-should-occupy-seats-in-congress

can I attach your video to my petition?

It is very true and I personally feel that it's time women are treated equally.

The media has an agenda to adhere to. The media is deceitful and lies to the people about almost everything. Consumerism is being served here as there are always hidden and not so hidden agendas at hand. This superficial indoctrination not only causes a lot of suffering for both males and females but both are cheated of self respect and being appreciated for their expression and not only for their physical appearance. Besides when one human loves another I really do not think that the physical attributes plays a big role in the long run. The criteria that women are required to conform to are impossible to reach and so the vicious circle plays out. Then we in the west have the audacity to speak of women's rights in other so called third world countries. Having some position or other is not what gives anyone value. Just "being" gives one value. Your individual expression simply must follow your heart. Some people will resonate with you and some will not. Talk about superficiality!!! Look deeper people. Guys, you have mothers, sisters, cousins, sister's in law and so on, be kind. Ladies start be valuing yourself no matter what. Besides you want to attract compatible people in your life and not people who are empty and will turn away from you if you are not looking your best at all times.

This was AMAZINGLY inspiring! Thank you so much! The struggle against who we are and who the media says we should be is terribly harmful: that we can't be taken seriously if we're smart, can't be noticed unless we're thin and "pretty"- these are wrong, and we deserve to be heard and to make the change!
