The rent increase proposed by Canterbury City Council is a 25% increase. The gallery is a community project run entirely by volunteers to enable local artists to exhibit their work at a reasonable cost. The gallery is given free of charge to local schools and is an asset to the town in general.

Please encourage all your friends to sign the petition. We really don't want Canterbury City council to change the unique high street that is Whitstable.

    3. The press will be at the gallery on Monday 30th July at 1.30.

If we want to preserve the integrity of Whitstable having small independent shops and not let it be turned into yet another generic town with all the same chain stores, we must stand up for what we believe. That is after all what has made Whitstable so popular with visitors!!!
If you have not done so already please sign this petition

The current escalations in rent are highly erosive and will lead to serious problems for Whitstable's Culture they are also seem very unfair.

Whitstable uniqueness and quirkiness must be protected. The Fishslab serves local artists and thus the local community. Long may it remain.

This is an important local arts & community resource- it helps to bring visitors to the town. Encourage it, don't strangle it!

I pay my council tax, and so I expect Canterbury Council to protect the shops and galleries in Whitstable from unfair rent increases from greedy landlords and agents.
