The change in policy was inevitable with Michigan being one of only three states without anti-bullying legislation in place. In late 2011, Michigan passed a new law requiring schools to enact anti-bullying policies. We have met with the School Board and have suggested specific pieces for the new procedures such as mandatory anger management classes for offenders before returning to school after suspension or expulsion in the more severe cases. We feel that these demand understanding of the severity of offense as well as encourage genuine change. Our hope is not only for a physically safe, but a socially safe, environment for students attending Caledonia Schools. Thank you all for your continued support!
