Approve the application to re-build the Fire Island Pines Pavilion

The Pavilion is the centerpiece of the Fire Island Pines commercial district and an integral and indispensable part of the economic, cultural and social well-being of the community. If it is not functional for the 2012 season there will be a serious negative impact on the economy of the community, affecting local businesses, homeowners, renters and visitors. The coverage and setbacks will be the same and will not increase. The main priority is to get the Pavilion up and running as quickly as possible and the most expeditious way of doing that is to rebuild what burned down.

The commercial district is vital to the value of our homes in FIP. I would like to understand what changes are being requested as the old building was not what i would have chosen as a design. A Higher and Wider building may not be desirable so before everyone jumps on the band wagon of we should understand what if any changes are being requested. That being said i support a rebuilding effort of the commercial district.

The Pavilion was, and should continue to be, a major central focus for the FIP community, not only financially, but, most important, socially. It is an institution that should not be lost!!!

I have be coming to The Pines since 1975 and the Pavillion has always been a fundamental part of the economy but most important , it is an integral part of the community that lives and visits The Pines. There is a need to socialize, celebrate and relax from our daily routines. Without The Pines, we will missing that.
